On Wednesday the 2nd of November, 2022, the “Egyptian Programme for Promoting Industrial Motor Efficiency” held its third steering committee in the premises of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to create collaborations for a further more coordinated and efficient implementation of promoting industrial motor efficiency solutions in Egypt through the framework of IMEEP project. The steering committee’s attendees comprised of 14 members affiliated to diverse entities including; Ministry of Trade & Industry, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of foreign affairs, Industrial Modernization Centre, Egyptian National Cleaner Production Center (ENCPC) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. The committee was chaired by by Mr.Amr Hazaa the Minister of Trade & Industry’s Advisor for funding and development projects with the participation Mr. Ahmed Rizk the Deputy Regional Director of UNIDO as the UNIDO PMU gave a broad explanation of the project’s pillars’ progress achieved in activities organized around the project’s four components; (i) Conducive Policy and Legal Environment for EE Motor Systems, (ii) Awareness and Capacity Building on Energy Efficiency in Motors and Motor Driven Systems, (iii) Technical Assistance for Technology Demonstration and Upgrading ,(iv) Support for developing the ESCO market, with a specific focus on EMDS optimization and motor upgrades.
