“The Egyptian Programme for Promoting Industrial Motor Efficiency ” implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) aims to support the industrial policies and the legislative framework that may be necessary for a comprehensive & sustainable industrial development approach in Egypt. Supporting national policies is one of the most important components of the project.
Part of the project’s efforts, was dedicating the team to develop and update the roadmap for local manufacturing of highly efficient motors and a roadmap for the electric motors’ rewinding. The roadmap enclosed; proposed interventions and the roles of different entities that will support the development of the roadmaps, taking into account the key players and the private and banking sectors to support the stakeholders in the value chain of local manufacturing and rewinding of high-efficiency motors.
The project’s team of experts also worked on developing policies and mechanisms to support the promotion of high-efficiency motor systems in the Egyptian industry. The team also met with stakeholders along the value chain of local manufacturing, in addition to conducting numerous meetings and working groups. Developing a roadmap was crucial in order to reach the intended results in addition to helping stakeholders in various sectors to develop their businesses in order to support promoting high-efficiency motor systems in the Egyptian industry. Meetings also were held with the motor rewinders to identify the obstacles they face, the potential solutions, opportunities to develop their work, and the potential new markets that may be unlocked.
In this context, a workshop has been conducted today on the 9th of March where the deliverables of the roadmaps were presented and discussed to finalize the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders.
Attendees were granted the opportunity to identify their networking needs so the project team can accordingly arrange these meetings with the required and specialized entities.
