Within the framework of the “Egyptian Programme for Promoting Industrial Motor Efficiency” which is implemented by UNIDO and funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry represented by the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) and the Egyptian National Cleaner Production Center (ENCPC), the first meeting for the policy working group was held in the IMC premises on the 2nd of June 2021.
The working group was comprised of representatives from relevant stakeholders including decision makers, the banking sector and the private sector working to prepare the legal and regulatory environment through overlooking and guiding the development of the operational policy tools and guidelines for energy-efficient motors in light of the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s vision and the Minister of Trade and Industry’s decree # 463/2020 which was issued in October 2020. The working group members discussed the challenges which they currently face as a step toward discussing the proposed policies during the coming meeting.
